Creating alarms on Watchdog devices

As an siouser, you may add, modify, or delete Alarms & Warning Events and notification Actions.

Under the Sensors tab, select Alarms & Warnings (Figure 1).

  • Click the "+" button to create a new alert
  • Click the "wrench" button to edit an existing alarm

The subsequent window is fairly self-explanatory, so this is to elaborate on a few of the fields and point out a gotcha.

The Clear Delay field is in seconds. Any value other than "0" means once this Event is tripped, the measurement must return to normal for this many seconds before the Event will clear and reset. Clear Delay can be up to 14400 seconds (4 hours). (Example 1)

The Trip Delay field is in seconds. Any value other than "0" means that the measurement must exceed the threshold for this many seconds before the Event will be tripped. Trip Delay can be up to 14400 seconds (4 hours). (Example 1)

Latching Mode: If enabled, this Event and its associated actions remain active until the Event is acknowledged, even if the measurement subsequently returns to normal. (Example 1)

The gotcha: make sure to check the Enabled box after adding your email address to an alert. (Example 2)
